Part Fifteen: Stubborn
It might have been way past midnight but not all were asleep in this dark city of injustice. A young thief grinned to himself as he lowered himself down through a hatch in the ceiling via a rope and glanced around the dark antique store. The cameras were recording him but he didn't care, his face was expertly covered by a balaclava. The thief tossed the backpack previously slung over his shoulder onto the counter before wedging open the cash registers with a rusty crow bar.
His grin became wider when he saw the day's takings and almost laughed with glee before snatching up handfuls of bills and shovelling it into the backpack, no longer worried about getting caught. As soon as he slammed the drawer of the register shut, he was back up the rope, shimming his way back into the roof and crawling his way back through the vent leading to the outside world.
